The French central defender, previously on loan from Clermont Foot and having played only one league match for Valencia, now has the chance to rejuvenate his career with RB Salzburg. The team stands 5th in the Austrian Bundesliga and is also competing in the Champions League. Although Salzburg's upcoming match against Atlético de Madrid will mark their exit from the Champions League, they are also scheduled to participate in the Club World Cup at the season's end. The loan arrangement was finalized after Caufriez requested permission to leave Valencia and find a club for the remainder of the season.
