Julian Weigl Transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Red Bull Salzburg
Red Bull Salzburg is reportedly interested in acquiring Julian Weigl as they seek an experienced midfielder to bolster their squad. It has been reported that Weigl engaged in intensive discussions with Rouven Schröder, the Sporting Director, and Jürgen Klopp, who was in Salzburg serving as the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull. Salzburg sees Weigl as a valuable asset for his stability and experience, which they believe would greatly support their young team. However, Weigl is currently under contract with Mönchengladbach until 2028, necessitating a transfer fee for any potential move. The 29-year-old midfielder, hailing from Bad Aibling, has made 89 appearances for Mönchengladbach since joining them in 2022. Prior to his tenure at Mönchengladbach, Weigl played for Borussia Dortmund and Benfica. He has also earned six caps with the German national team and was part of the Euro 2016 squad. Despite Salzburg's interest, they may face competition from Leeds United, which is also keen on Weigl as they approach a potential promotion to the Premier League.
