Having paid €8 million to Heidenheim for Beste, Benfica is looking for €12 million for a permanent transfer. The club is also hesitant to agree to a loan deal because it would result in losing Beste, who could potentially replace their left-back Carreras, without receiving an upfront financial return. In addition to Brentford, Crystal Palace has also shown interest in a similar loan arrangement, but Benfica has found the proposals from both English clubs inadequate.
