Toma Bašić leaving Lazio?
Hajduk Spalato has shown interest in acquiring Toma Basic on loan. The club wants Lazio to cover part of Basic's salary, which is 1.4 million euros net per year. Discussions are ongoing, and a decision is expected soon as the transfer window in Croatia closes on September 5. Basic has a contract with Lazio until 2026.
Lazio's Toma Basic is close to joining Hajduk Spalato on a paid loan. To match his net salary of 1.4 million euros per season (1.8 million with the growth decree not applicable in Croatia), Lazio's president Lotito will have to contribute to part of the salary payment. The transfer became more likely after the failed arrivals of Faraoni and Folorunsho.
Toma Bašić had offers from several German and Italian clubs, including Augsburg and Verona, but he chose to join Salernitana, the last-placed team in the Italian league, which eventually got relegated.
Lazio has received loan offers for Basic but wants to sell him outright or on loan with an obligation to buy.
Italian media report that Espanyol inquired with Lazio about the situation of the 27-year-old Bašić. Sport, based in Barcelona, writes that the Croatian midfielder is suitable for Espanyol due to his versatility. Marco Baroni, the new coach of Lazio, reportedly does not count on him, so the club is looking for an exit for him. Basaksehir is interested in him.
