Tijs Velthuis is set to continue his football career in Italy as he departs Salernitana. Sassuolo has revealed that they have secured his services from Sparta Rotterdam on a loan deal which includes an option to purchase. Velthuis, a defender born in 2002, has had stints at Quick '20, Twente, AZ Alkmaar, and was also on loan at NAC Breda. During the 2023/2024 season, he made his Eredivisie debut with Sparta Rotterdam, appearing in 27 matches. On August 7, 2024, he was loaned to Salernitana, where he featured in 10 games before his transfer to Sassuolo. Hailing from Oldenzaal, Netherlands, Velthuis has been part of the Dutch national team's youth squads, earning 4 caps for the Under-17 team and one for the Under-18 team.
