During his six-month tenure at Atlético de Madrid, Moldovan did not make any official appearances, as he was consistently overshadowed by Jan Oblak. This lack of playtime led to him losing his starting position in the Romanian national team for the previous Eurocup. Although there were initial concerns due to Oblak's physical issues, Moldovan chose to leave following Oblak's return to fitness.

However, his agent, Andrei Balmoș, stated that there is no real deal with Sassuolo and that Moldovan is training calmly.
