Spartak Moscow reportedly entered negotiations for Braga's midfielder Rodrigo Salazar but later withdrew to maintain good relations with Zenit Saint Petersburg. Zenit was initially close to securing Salazar's transfer, but the deal fell through at the last moment.

After the failed transfer to Zenit, Spartak Moscow showed active interest in Rodrigo Salazar. However, Spartak was unable to finalize the deal. Timur Lepsaya, a football agent, speculated that Spartak attempted to sign Salazar to outdo Zenit, believing Salazar was ready to move to Russia as his conditions were known and there was readiness to sell him to Russia.

The transfer of Rodrigo Salazar from Braga to Zenit Saint Petersburg was agreed upon between the clubs. However, the transfer failed because Braga was concerned about secondary sanctions related to one of Zenit's shareholders. Despite having a contract ready and discussions with European lawyers to find a payment solution, the transfer could not be completed.

The transfer of Rodrigo Salazar to Spartak Moscow was canceled to avoid a conflict between Spartak and Zenit St. Petersburg, who were also close to signing the Uruguayan player.

Moscow's Spartak is continuing negotiations with Portugal's Braga for the transfer of Rodrigo Salazar. Spartak aims to complete the deal before the end of the transfer window. The negotiations have progressed recently.
