Nottingham Forest has signed defender Morato from Benfica.

Morato, a 23-year-old Brazilian center-back, has left Benfica to sign with Nottingham Forest, currently sixth in the Premier League, on a contract lasting until 2029. Benfica sold the defender for €11 million, with an additional €6 million in performance bonuses that are expected to be easily achievable. The club also secured 15 percent of any future sale. Morato traveled to England on Friday, underwent medical examinations, and finalized the contract on the last day of the transfer window in the country. He had been with Benfica since 2019, having been signed from São Paulo.
