M. Antunović leaving Hajduk Split?

Mate Antunović has left Hajduk Split for another club during the winter transfer window.

Sportske Novosti reports on the potential transfer of Mate Antunović to Varaždin in Croatia. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Legia Warsaw showed interest in signing the young forward Mate Antunović. However, it seems more likely that he will move to Varaždin in Croatia.

Mate Antunović, a 20-year-old forward, has been honing his skills at Hajduk Split. Last season, he was loaned to Monza, where he participated in 26 matches within the Primavera competitions, scoring ten goals and delivering two assists. Monza had an option to purchase him for approximately one million euros but opted not to exercise it. Upon his return to Croatia, Antunović has not been given many opportunities by Hajduk's coach, Gennaro Gattuso, having played only five times and scored once. According to reports from Dalmatinskiportal.hr, Antunović is anticipated to join NK Varaždin on a free transfer soon. Hajduk will retain a significant percentage from any potential future transfer involving the player. Despite the impending transfer, Antunović is set to travel with Gattuso's team to a training camp in Spain. The sports director of Hajduk has asked for a few more days to complete the transaction, which may be linked to the imminent transfer of Michele Šegi.
