Masaya Okugawa, hampered by numerous injuries, failed to make a breakthrough at FC Augsburg. The offensive player, who was acquired by the Fuggerstädter in the summer of 2023 from Arminia Bielefeld, is now leaving FCA after one and a half years and is returning to his Japanese homeland at his own request. The 28-year-old, who was loaned to Hamburger SV in the second half of the previous season, will now play for Kyoto Sanga.

Masaya Okugawa, a long-time substitute, might seek a new challenge if he continues to play a minor role in coach Jess Thorup's plans.
