Keylor Navas Transfer from Newell's Old Boys to FC Barcelona
Keylor Navas, the renowned former Real Madrid goalkeeper, has revealed that he received a call from Barcelona regarding the possibility of him replacing Marc-André ter Stegen, who has been sidelined by injury since September last year. It was reported that Barcelona reached out to Navas' agent to discuss the potential of his transfer. Navas noted that being considered by a long-standing rival like Barcelona was flattering, though he admitted that such a transfer would be complicated. Currently 38 years old and playing for Newell's Old Boys, Navas enjoyed a successful career at Real Madrid between 2014 and 2019, securing 12 trophies which included three consecutive European titles. Following his time at Real, he spent four seasons with PSG before moving to Argentina. In Barcelona's current scenario, Wojciech Szczesny, the former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper, has taken over the position, essentially coming out of retirement to replace the injured Ter Stegen. Despite Barcelona's interest, Navas jokingly mentioned that if Florentino Perez, Real Madrid's president, were to contact him, he would be willing to swim part of Spain to take the call, underscoring his lasting loyalty to his former team.
