Liverpool FC has announced that Joel Matip will be leaving the club in the summer. His contract is expiring and will not be renewed. Matip has been with Liverpool for eight years, and was one of Jürgen Klopp's first signings. He transferred from Schalke 04 to Liverpool in 2016 on a free transfer and has played 201 games for the club. His major achievements include winning the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title a year later. Matip is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.
