Jhonatan is currently working on finalizing the details related to his contract termination with Rio Ave. The club expressed their appreciation for his significant contributions, particularly highlighting his role in the 2021/22 season when they secured the Liga 2 title and made their return to the Primeira Liga. After spending three and a half seasons and playing 109 matches with Rio Ave, Jhonatan is saying goodbye to the club where he developed a strong bond with the fans. Prior to his tenure at Rio Ave, he played for Moreirense and Vitória de Guimarães in Portuguese football.
