Janis Blaswich leaving RB Leipzig?

Janis Blaswich has been loaned to Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of 1 million euros.

Janis Blaswich leaves RB Leipzig and will be loaned to RB Salzburg for one year. This move comes after the arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, which made it clear that the 33-year-old would fear for his position as the number 2 goalkeeper.

Janis Blaswich will be loaned to FC Red Bull Salzburg for the 2024/25 season. Blaswich became the main goalkeeper for RB Leipzig after Peter Gulacsi's injury in October 2022. He won the DFB-Pokal and the Supercup with RB Leipzig and played 21 games last season. With Gulacsi now fit and the signing of Maarten Vandevoordt, Blaswich's chances for playing time at Leipzig are slim. Blaswich extended his contract with Leipzig until 2026 in autumn.

With Gulacsi's extension and Vandevoordt's arrival, Janis Blaswich's prospects have deteriorated. Despite being under contract until 2026, Blaswich might have better chances of playing if he reorients himself.

Janis Blaswich (33) and RB Leipzig are parting ways due to the upcoming surplus of goalkeepers with number one format. RB Leipzig has brought in Maarten Vandevoordt from KRC Genk as a new challenger.

If Gulacsi continues at RB Leipzig, Janis Blaswich might have to look for a new challenge. He has already shown readiness to seek a new challenge.
