James Rodríguez is on the verge of ending his contract with Rayo Vallecano and might return to Colombia. Junior FC is openly expressing interest in the 33-year-old midfielder. Fuad Char, a shareholder of the club, indicated that the intention and possibility to acquire a player of James' stature emerged through Cristian Daes, who is a friend of James. The club has reportedly made a very attractive offer and is eager to sign him. The proposal is said to be for a two-year contract, with the aim of having James in top physical shape for the World Cup by playing in Colombia during 2025 and the first half of 2026. Nonetheless, there is financial competition, and the economic state of Colombian football presents some challenges.
