Tondela had initially taken the lead and reached a preliminary agreement with Estrela da Amadora for the loan of Brazilian winger Caio Santana until the end of the season. However, the deal was unsuccessful at the last moment because Caio decided to pursue another project. He had received offers from UD Leiria and Portimonense, and he ultimately preferred Portimonense.
