Benjamin Uphoff Transfer from SC Freiburg to Hansa Rostock
Hansa Rostock has signed Benjamin Uphoff as a replacement for long-time goalkeeper Markus Kolke. Uphoff, who has 126 third-league games, 34 competitive games in the 2nd league and two games in the Bundesliga on his CV, is set to be the new number one keeper for Hansa Rostock in the upcoming season. The 30-year-old goalkeeper was trained at Wacker Burghausen, and had stints at the second teams of 1. FC Nuremberg and VfB Stuttgart between 2011 and 2017. From 2017 to 2020, he was the goalkeeper at Karlsruher SC, where he succeeded Dirk Orlishausen. Orlishausen, who is now a goalkeeper coach at Hansa Rostock, likely played a role in Uphoff's move to the club.
Hansa Rostock has responded to the departure of Markus Kolke and signed Benjamin Uphoff from SC Freiburg. The 30-year-old keeper is looking forward to his new challenge - and Hansa's director of professional football, Amir Shapourzadeh, is pleased about the signing of the goalkeeper, "who brings enough experience and also strengthens our squad optimally for the rebuild as a person."
