Yuri Alberto leaving Corinthians?

Yuri Alberto is also targeted by two Premier League teams.

Corinthians confirmed that in 2024, they received a loan proposal for Yuri Alberto from an English club through Andre Cury. The proposal included the condition that Corinthians would pay part of the player's salary, which was promptly rejected by the club's management under Augusto Melo.

Andre Cury, the agent representing Yuri Alberto, asserted that he had presented an offer of R$ 186 million for the player to Corinthians. He indicated that with this amount, the club could clear its debts to him, which exceed R$ 27 million, and still retain a portion of the funds. Nonetheless, Corinthians refuted the claim of receiving such a lucrative proposal. The club, which holds only 50% of the player's economic rights, believes that selling him would not be advantageous as they would not be able to reinvest in a player of Yuri Alberto's caliber with merely half of the alleged R$ 186 million.

Yuri Alberto, currently playing for Corinthians, has been the subject of a proposal from an Italian club. Corinthians rejected a 30 million euros offer for the player. The player's agent, André Cury, mentioned that there have been various offers for Yuri to return to Europe, but none have materialized. The player enjoys playing for Corinthians and has been a top scorer in Brazil. Despite the rejections, there remains a possibility for a future transfer if a suitable offer arises.

Yuri Alberto expressed happiness at Corinthians and emphasized that he will only leave if a good proposal is made that benefits both him and the club. He mentioned having a great desire to play in Europe but clarified that any offer must be special for him and Corinthians. Memphis Depay, his teammate, has been encouraging him to stay, sending messages to reinforce his stay at the club.

In July 2024, Yuri Alberto showed a strong desire to leave Corinthians, mainly due to the pressure and criticism he faced, which was intensified by a gallbladder surgery. Although he is contracted until 2027, he continues to attract interest from European clubs, particularly those in the Premier League. Yuri has indicated that playing in Europe, especially in the Premier League, is a dream for him. However, Corinthians is keen to retain him for the upcoming season, as finding a comparable replacement is challenging and they only possess 50% of his economic rights, with Zenit owning the other half.

Yuri Alberto, who has been a standout player for Corinthians this season, has expressed his dream of playing in Europe and has not guaranteed his stay at the club in 2025. Although he is happy at Corinthians, he is open to leaving if a beneficial offer arises for both him and the club. He prioritizes playing in England, as he believes it suits his style of play. Previously, he played for Zenit in Russia but returned to Brazil due to the inability to participate in European tournaments because of the war. His contract with Corinthians is valid until the end of 2027.

Yuri Alberto has been attracting interest from European clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window. However, Corinthians' management is steadfast in their decision to retain the striker for the next season, citing the difficulties in finding a replacement with comparable performance. Corinthians holds only 50% of Alberto's economic rights, with Zenit owning the remaining half. Any potential offer would be divided between the two clubs. President Augusto Melo stressed that the club intends to strengthen the team rather than sell players. Alberto has been associated with Premier League clubs, including a loan attempt by Southampton, although these discussions did not advance and were not brought to the player's attention.
