According to CalcioMercato, Napoli has shown renewed interest in Yukinari Sugawara after Southampton's difficulties with relegation. Sugawara was a definite target for Inter in the previous summer, but they opted not to move forward, which allowed Southampton to secure his signing. With Southampton almost certain to be relegated to the Championship, retaining Sugawara for the next season seems unlikely. Napoli has promptly expressed their interest in Sugawara as a high-quality backup option for Di Lorenzo. The acquisition of the Japanese international would require a fee of 12 million euros.

Napoli is interested in Yukinari Sugawara, a right back from Japan, born in 2000. He is currently under contract with Southampton until June 2028, having been acquired by the club for 7 million euros from AZ Alkmaar in the last summer transfer window. Previously, Inter showed interest in him as a potential successor or backup for Denzel Dumfries, but the interest did not materialize into a transfer.
