Timo Werner: RB Leipzig Contract Extension

Goal.com reports on the potential changes in Timo Werner's loan situation involving Tottenham and RB Leipzig. Tottenham could potentially cancel Timo Werner's loan but RB Leipzig are reportedly reluctant to take him back due to wages amid poor run of form.

Tottenham are set to part ways with Timo Werner at the end of the season, as the Premier League club does not plan on turning his loan deal into a permanent move. The German star joined Spurs during the January transfer window with an option to stay permanently for a fee of £15m. However, Tottenham extended his loan for another season with a buy clause worth only £8.5m, which they do not plan to activate. Werner will return to RB Leipzig at the end of the current season.

Timo Werner's loan contract with Tottenham Hotspur ends in the summer, after which he is expected to return to RB Leipzig, where he has a contract until 2026. Tottenham is unlikely to exercise the purchase option of 12 million euros due to Werner's poor performance. Leipzig is concerned about his return, partly due to his high annual salary of around 10 million euros.

Ange Postecoglou has decided not to take up the option to sign Timo Werner permanently, despite the bargain option set at just £8.5m. This decision follows Postecoglou's public criticism of Werner's performance in a Europa League match against Rangers.

RB Leipzig is reportedly not planning to recall Timo Werner in January, despite his challenges at Tottenham, as reported by German media. Werner, who joined Tottenham on loan last January, had his stay extended by the club for an additional season. Despite his difficulties this season, it is reported by BILD that RB Leipzig will not be recalling him. Werner is expected to remain in north London until the summer, and Tottenham has a purchase option of €12 million, which remains valid until the spring.
