Suso leaving Sevilla?
Suso is preparing to make a return to his roots. The winger, born in 1993, is set to conclude his time with Sevilla at the close of the season, as his contract is slated to expire on June 30, 2025. He is gearing up for a return to his hometown to don the jersey of Cadiz, a Segunda Division club where he began his youth career. AS reported that the former Milan player has already decided to part ways with Sevilla after a season spent largely on the periphery, having not scored in his 217 minutes of play in La Liga, while the Andalusian team remains embroiled in a precarious relegation struggle in Spain. Last January, Suso nearly transferred to Cadiz in the Spanish B, but Sevilla opted to retain him until the conclusion of the current agreement. He is anticipated to sign a three-year contract, with an option for a fourth year, with the club where he developed before moving to England with Liverpool's youth team.
Suso made an attempt to depart from Sevilla during the winter transfer window, although no agreement was reached. The club was keen to arrange his exit, either by transferring him or by covering his salary until June. Despite having been a valuable player in previous seasons, his role has diminished, and he has not played since early December. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, his future is uncertain. The coach stated that his absence was due to technical decisions, but the club was actively looking for his departure in January.
Suso's future at Sevilla appears uncertain as he has not played since December, sparking speculations due to his lack of playtime and a cryptic social media post. Coach Francisco García Pimienta initially expressed a desire for Suso to be in better conditions, but later acknowledged that other players were performing better. With the signing of Ruben Vargas and the recovery of Chidera Ejuke, Suso's position has become even more complicated. Although his contract is set to end in June, Sevilla is considering an early departure for him to free up salary space. There have been inquiries, particularly from the Middle East, although the transfer option remains unclear. His continuity at Nervión is in doubt.
Suso, with a contract nearing its end and limited playtime, is on Sevilla's transfer list. His departure would help the club reduce its wage bill.
Suso feels that his cycle at Sevilla has come to an end, indicating a potential move to Olympiacos.
Suso remains contracted to Sevilla until the conclusion of this season, but it appears unlikely that he will extend his stay. The club might consider reducing their wage bill by transferring him during the winter market, potentially generating income if a proposal emerges from the Middle East once more, similar to previous transfer windows. As of now, no consensus has been achieved among the involved parties, resulting in Suso remaining in Nervión, a destination he reached from Milan in the winter of 2020.
Olympiacos has shown interest in signing Suso, the 30-year-old Spanish left-footed winger, for many years. This summer marked the closest they came to finalizing the transfer, mainly due to Mendilibar's presence, who had previously collaborated with Suso at Sevilla. However, Suso sustained a serious injury towards the end of Sevilla's pre-season, rendering it impractical for Olympiacos to move forward with the acquisition.
Suso is trying to convince everyone that he can have an important role in the team under the new tactical setup.
Despite performing well at times last season, Suso is being considered for a transfer this summer to help Sevilla's financial situation.
