S. Olsson leaving SC Heerenveen?
SC Heerenveen is preparing to transfer Simon Olsson back to IF Elfsborg, the club from which he was originally acquired 2.5 years ago. Olsson has lost his starting position at Heerenveen this season, leading the club to consider a transfer. It was reported that several clubs from his home country, Sweden, had shown interest in recent weeks. However, it has been confirmed that Olsson will return to Elfsborg. Due to the impending transfer, he is no longer included in the squad for the match against Ajax. The transfer will earn Heerenveen a fee of one million euros, allowing them to recover a substantial portion of the 1.3 million euros they initially invested.
Djurgardens is interested in signing Simon Olsson from Heerenveen, but no agreement has been made yet.
IF Elfsborg has matched the bid of one million euros for Simon Olsson previously made by Djurgarden IF. Olsson was purchased from IF Elfsborg in the summer of 2022 for 1.3 million euros and has also played in their youth team.
Djurgarden IF has made an opening bid of slightly more than one million euros for Simon Olsson. It is unclear if Heerenveen is willing to negotiate for this amount, but it is clear that Olsson is available for a transfer if a sufficient offer is made. Olsson's role at Heerenveen has been marginalized since Robin van Persie became head coach, and he no longer has a guaranteed starting position in the Eredivisie since the end of October. Despite this, he remains popular among the fans.
