Seko Fofana Transfer from Al Nassr to Rennes

Seko Fofana has signed with Rennes for a long-term contract until 2029, leaving Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. The transfer was announced by his new coach Jorge Sampaoli, who mentioned Fofana had two training sessions and will join the group against Nice. Sampaoli highlighted Fofana's potential to bring energy, aggression, and competitiveness to the team.

Seko Fofana, a 29-year-old midfielder, has been confirmed as a new addition to Rennes. This transfer marks his return to the French football scene. Between 2020 and 2023, Fofana was considered one of the top players at Lens before his move to Saudi Arabia, where he played for Al Nassr and was loaned to Al Ettifaq. He began his professional career at Manchester City, although he did not make any appearances in the Premier League, and also played for Udinese. In the 2022/23 season with Lens, he was among the nominees for Ligue 1's best player, a list that included Mbappé, Messi, Openda, and David.

Seko Fofana has permanently left Al Nassr and signed a contract with Rennes, where he will join Jota as a teammate. Fofana had previously transferred from Lens to Al Nassr for 25 million euros a year and a half ago. However, he did not manage to impress and was subsequently loaned to Al Ettifaq. This loan was cut short when Al Nassr received an offer for him to return to Ligue 1, specifically to Rennes. The Ivorian has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, which will last until June 2029. According to Le Parisien, the transfer will bring a little over 20 million euros to Al Nassr's coffers.

Stade Rennais is nearing the completion of signing Seko Fofana to bolster their midfield lineup. The Ivorian midfielder is preparing to depart from Al-Nassr, where he is presently on loan at Al-Ettifaq, to join Rennes for an estimated transfer fee of 20 million euros. Le Parisien reported that the player successfully underwent his medical examination on Monday, and the official announcement is anticipated soon. Seko Fofana has been persuaded by president Arnaud Pouille, who previously served as his general manager at Lens, and he aims to contribute his experience and talent to a team facing challenges this season.

Seko Fofana, currently playing for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, is increasingly close to joining the Breton club Rennes a few days before the opening of the winter transfer window.

Rennes has shown significant interest in acquiring Seko Fofana. The club's president, Arnaud Pouille, who has previous connections with Fofana, is making efforts to persuade him to join Rennes. Fofana is presently on loan at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, where he is reportedly enjoying his experience. Although he was initially hesitant, the opportunity to play in Europe once more, secure a 4-year contract, and work under coach Jorge Sampaoli has made the offer more appealing to him. Rennes is in competition with another Saudi club, and they might finalize the transfer for approximately 20 million euros.
