Sebastián Villa Transfer from Independiente Rivadavia to Racing Club

Sebastian Villa was rumored to be transferred to Racing Club, but Daniel Vila, the president of Independiente Rivadavia, denied these rumors. Vila mentioned that they never had any intention of selling Villa to Racing. Villa, who is under contract until June 2026, was offered to Racing during their presidential elections. Nevertheless, Racing turned down the opportunity to bring him in due to Villa's legal issues, which include a conviction for gender violence and an ongoing case for sexual abuse. Despite acknowledging his football abilities, the new Racing management ultimately decided against the transfer.

Sebastián Villa, once considered a potential reinforcement for Racing both before and after the club's elections, is no longer being pursued by the club due to his legal issues. Coach Gustavo Costas had reportedly identified Villa as a player to watch in the transfer market. However, the forward, who previously played for Boca and is currently with Independiente Rivadavia, will not be transferring to Avellaneda. Villa is under a conditional sentence of two years and three months following a gender violence case against his ex-wife, Daniela Cortés. Furthermore, there is a sexual abuse case against him, for which he had reached an economic agreement with the complainant. This agreement, however, was not accepted by the prosecutor and judge overseeing the case. The issue is now with the Chamber, which must decide whether to continue with the case or to archive it based on the agreement.

Sebastián Villa, a Colombian forward with a history at Boca and currently playing for Independiente Rivadavia, was proposed to Racing Club. The new director, Gustavo Costas, expressed his interest by stating that he would like to have Villa on the team. Victor Blanco, the former president, had also shown interest in Villa, mentioning that he is a player he admires. Despite initial uncertainty following the club's elections, Costas' endorsement has brought Villa back into consideration. The decision now rests with Sebastián Saja, the Sporting Director, and the new Technical Secretariat. Villa is under contract with Independiente Rivadavia until mid-2026.
