Saël Kumbedi leaving Olympique Lyonnais?

The club has decided to sell Kumbedi to help meet financial targets and survive.

Saël Kumbedi is attracting interest from AS Monaco. Olympique Lyonnais has been relegated to Ligue 2, prompting many players to seek transfers. AS Monaco is considering Kumbedi as a potential replacement for Vanderson, who has been given a green light to leave the club. However, no progress has been made on Kumbedi's transfer as Monaco is dealing with high price expectations for Vanderson, which have deterred potential buyers.

Saël Kumbedi, a young right-back, has seen limited action this season under Lyon's coach Pierre Sage, who has shown a preference for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Clinton Mata in that position. Kumbedi, after making 20 appearances in Ligue 1 during the 2022-2023 season and 17 in the 2023-2024 season, has only featured in 3 league games this season and was included in the squad just once in the last five Ligue 1 matches. In light of this situation, Kumbedi is contemplating a move away from Lyon this winter to secure more playing time and further his development. Lyon, facing financial challenges, would not prevent the departure of a player valued at approximately 5 million euros.

Saël Kumbedi, a right-back, is experiencing a similar situation to Diawara at Olympique Lyonnais. With only three starts this season, he is not in the plans of coach Pierre Sage. His departure is likely to be clarified in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Lyon hopes to get between 8 and 10 million euros for Saël Kumbedi. Strasbourg, Rennes, Reims, and Nice have shown interest this summer.

Saël Kumbedi has clubs interested in his services.
