Rubén Pérez is in negotiations with Panathinaikos to terminate his contract, allowing him to sign as a free agent with a club in Spain's Segunda Division. He has been sidelined this season and is not part of the team's rotation. His contract with Panathinaikos ends next summer. Since joining in 2021, he has made 89 appearances for the club, which is the only team he has played for outside of Spain.

Ruben Perez was left out of the European squad for the games against Botev Plovdiv by coach Diego Alonso. He was informed that he is not part of Alonso's plans and needs to find a new club during the summer.
