Rodrigo Gomes Transfer from Sporting Braga to Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton has secured Rodrigo Gomes from Braga. Matt Hobbs, the sporting director, expressed his excitement, stating that it's great to have completed the transfer early in the summer, allowing Rodrigo to join the team for pre-season. Hobbs highlighted Rodrigo's versatility, creativity, technical ability, and attitude.

Rodrigo Gomes leaves Sporting de Braga heading to the English Premier League, where he will defend the colors of Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Wolves, where Spaniards Pablo Sarabia and Hugo Bueno play, pay 15 million euros for the 20-year-old Portuguese winger. He signs until June 30, 2029 with the option for one more season.

Rodrigo Gomes, a right back born in 2003, was purchased by Wolverhampton from Braga for 12 million euros. He recently spent a season on loan at Estoril Praia. The Portuguese U21 international becomes the club's second summer purchase, following the permanent acquisition of Tommy Doyle. Gomes' transfer to Molineux follows a productive loan season at Estoril, a top-tier Portuguese team, where he scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 36 matches. Gomes was on loan from SC Braga, where he played over 50 times as a teenager, four years behind Pedro Neto, who attended the same academy before moving to Molineux in 2019. Gomes' contract with the Wolves will last until 2029 and contains an additional one-year option. He completed his medical tests on Tuesday and will join O'Neil's team for the start of pre-season training.

Wolverhampton has entered strongly in the fight to get the young Portuguese talent, who scored nine goals and eight assists in the 36 games he played. The Wolves have been following Gomes for some time and it is well known their particular relationship with Portuguese football, with the influence of Jorge Mendes. Upon learning of Atlético's bid for the player, they have reacted and are willing to put on the table the same amount as the Spanish club: 15 million euros.

Rodrigo Gomes, who spent the last season on loan at Estoril Praia, has attracted the interest of Wolverhampton for the next season, according to Express.
