Metalist 1925 Kharkiv attempted to return Ghanaian forward Raymond Owusu to Zorya Luhansk and was even willing to offer significant financial compensation. However, Zorya's head coach, Mladen Bartulovic, decided that Owusu would not fit into the team's lineup, leading the Luhansk club to reject the deal. Owusu previously played for Zorya in the 2021/22 season but left Ukraine after the war began and continued his career in Turkey with Istanbulspor before joining Metalist 1925.
