Rabbi Matondo Transfer from Rangers to Coventry City
Rabbi Matondo could have ended up at Coventry City, but the deal collapsed at the last moment. Frank Lampard explained that the collapse was not due to financial constraints.
Rabbi Matondo's loan move to Coventry City has collapsed. The winger is out of Clement's first-team plans with the likes of Findlay Curtis and Zak Lovelace promoted from the B team. Coventry boss Frank Lampard remained coy about any deal for Matondo, stating: 'I’m not going to speak about that one today. He’s a Rangers player and I think it’s respectful to not speak about that one at this point.'
Rabbi Matondo is poised to join Coventry on loan until the conclusion of the season, with an option to buy included in the deal, valued at approximately £2 million. Coventry aims to outpace Championship rivals Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday in securing Matondo's signing. Matondo has experienced limited first-team action this season, primarily due to a hamstring injury. He has scored two goals and contributed three assists in eight appearances for Rangers this season. The signing represents Frank Lampard's first acquisition as Coventry manager, as he strives to implement his vision for the club during the January transfer window.
