Nico Mantl, a 24-year-old German goalkeeper, has been signed by Arouca for the 2024/25 season. Mantl was trained at SpVgg Unterhaching in Germany, made his professional debut in 2017/18, and remained there until 2020/21. He then transferred to Salzburg for 2 million euros, but after only 2 games, he was loaned to Liefering in Austria. Last season, still part of Salzburg, Mantl represented Aalborg and Viborg in Denmark. With Salzburg, he won two Austrian championships and the country's cup. He has also been capped for Germany's U-20 and U-21 teams, and participated in the U-21 Euro in 2023.
