Neal Maupay Transfer from Everton to Olympique Marseille
Neal Maupay has left the Premier League to join Olympique Marseille.
Neal Maupay joins Olympique Marseille on a one-season loan with an obligation to buy for around 4 million euros. He spent the last season on loan at Brentford, scoring eight goals in 31 appearances.
Neal Maupay will be loaned from Everton to Marseille for one year. The French club has an option to buy. The 28-year-old was loaned to FC Brentford last season, where he scored six goals in 29 Premier League games. Now, the striker returns to his home country after seven years in England.
Neal Maupay has been initially loaned to Olympique Marseille, which has a mandatory purchase option of four million euros. Maupay, who joined Everton from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022, had an unsuccessful stint at Goodison Park, featuring in 32 official matches mostly as a substitute. A loan period at Brentford also did not yield any positive results. Earlier this summer, Maupay returned to Everton but was benched for the first two Premier League appearances. He had conflicts with Everton fans, making an exit seem the best option for all parties involved. Marseille has stepped in to rescue Maupay from his difficult situation in England.
