Defender Moritz Jenz signed a one-year loan contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Wednesday.

Moritz Jenz has been loaned from VfL Wolfsburg to 1. FSV Mainz 05 until the end of the 2024/25 season. Mainz's sporting director Christian Heidel mentioned that they were looking for an experienced Bundesliga player for their central defense, and Jenz fits the role as he can play both in the center and on the left side of the defense. Jenz expressed that he had very good conversations with Mainz's officials, especially with coach Bo Henriksen, whose energy he found very motivating.

FSV Mainz 05 has strengthened their central defense. Moritz Jenz is joining the club on a one-year loan from Bundesliga rival Wolfsburg. Last season, the 25-year-old made 22 appearances in the Bundesliga (starting 21 times) and had an average rating of 3.57 according to kicker.

Hoffenheim showed interest in signing Moritz Jenz from VfL Wolfsburg. However, the transfer failed because not all decision-makers at Hoffenheim were convinced about the candidate.
