Elneny arrived in North London in 2016 from Basel, with the London club paying 12.5 million euros for his services. In eight seasons (he was on loan at Besiktas in the 2019/2020 season), the defensive midfielder played 161 games and won three titles (two Community Shields and an FA Cup). In the last three seasons, he has not been a regular option for Mikel Arteta and this year he has only played in six games.
