Mile Svilar leaving Roma?
Roma is in talks to extend goalkeeper Mile Svilar's contract from 2027 to 2029, with a salary increase from 800,000 euros to 2 million euros. Svilar, with an 83.9% save rate, ranks high in Serie A for clean sheets and saves. The extension aims to reward his performance and deter foreign club interest, notably from Wolverhampton and West Ham.
Svilar has demonstrated that he deserves a contract renewal with Roma, which he will receive.
Svilar is expected to receive a call from Ghisolfi to sign a contract extension. The current agreement runs until 2027, but his salary will be increased from 800,000 euros to approximately 1.5 million euros, and the contract will be extended until 2028.
Svilar has been the busiest goalkeeper in the competitions in 2024 with 54 saves. His performances have caught the attention of many clubs, especially from the Premier League. The new sporting director Florent Ghisolfi will have to deal with the case of the goalkeeper born in Belgium but of Serbian football passport, son of art since father Ratko was the holder of the former Yugoslavia. The basis of the negotiation should be an extension until 2028 and the doubling of the salary (today of one million), with also performance bonuses.
Mile Svilar has also put his stamp on the victory against Genoa. His girlfriend gave a clue about his future with a post on Instagram: 'My love, I am so proud of you... speechless. I love you, see you next season Olimpico'. Roma fans also want him next year and De Rossi does not want to let Svilar slip away. In recent weeks, Premier League clubs have approached, but Mile does not seem willing to leave the Capital.
Mile Svilar started this season as Rui Patricio's reserve and has earned De Rossi's trust with a series of high-level tests. The Serbian goalkeeper is worth at least 30 million for Roma. The Giallorossi company now wants renewal and has already started initial contacts with the class of 1999's entourage.
Mile Svilar has been a key player for Roma since mid-season, despite certain defensive weaknesses. The Roma management is planning to call him for a contract renewal. The only scenario leading to separation would be an irresistible offer, which would start from 30 million euros upwards.
Mile Svilar was the protagonist in the negative sense of Roma's elimination from the Europa League. He made a mistake in the final minutes of the Europa League semi-final return match against Leverkusen. The ball hit Mancini and went into the empty goal. This was the goal that qualified the Germans for the tournament final. After Xabi Alonso's team won 2-0 in the first leg, Roma had recovered the double disadvantage with a brace from Paredes but in the end came the mistake of the Giallorossi goalkeeper (and then Stanisic's goal).
