Mike Eerdhuijzen leaving Sparta Rotterdam?
Mike Eerdhuijzen will not be transferring from Sparta to Plymouth Argyle. Despite Plymouth, the team at the bottom of the Championship, having reached an agreement with the Rotterdam club, the defender chose not to proceed with the transfer. Sparta's technical director, Gerard Nijkamp, informed ESPN that Eerdhuijzen would remain at Het Kasteel for the time being. Nijkamp explained that although there was an agreement with Plymouth, the player also needed to reach a deal with the club, which did not happen, resulting in Mike staying. He emphasized that Eerdhuijzen would definitely not be joining Plymouth anymore. Plymouth was reportedly prepared to pay between one to two million euros for Eerdhuijzen, but Nijkamp found it 'sportively nice' that Mike decided to remain. While an exit later in the month is not entirely ruled out, Nijkamp mentioned that although one should "never say never," Mike's current intention is to finish the season and help Sparta in their fight for survival.
