Miguel Merentiel Transfer from Boca Juniors to Anderlecht

Miguel Merentiel, a 29-year-old Uruguayan striker nicknamed 'La Bestia', is on Anderlecht's list as a potential replacement for Kasper Dolberg. Boca Juniors is not keen to let him go easily, but his release clause is 16 million euros. Anderlecht sees an opportunity since Boca is already looking for a new striker.

Both Anderlecht and AEK Athens have expressed interest in Miguel Merentiel, the 29-year-old forward currently playing for Boca Juniors. At Boca Juniors, Merentiel alternates between starting and sitting on the bench and occasionally serves as the team's captain. This season, he has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 12 matches. With a market value of 7 million euros and a contract that runs until December 31, 2027, acquiring Merentiel would be costly, and Boca Juniors are expected to be reluctant to let him leave. Initially, the Argentine club loaned Merentiel from Palmeiras before purchasing him for 2.8 million euros. Over his time at Boca Juniors, Merentiel has scored 39 goals and contributed 13 assists in 111 appearances, averaging 17 to 18 goals per season. As a Uruguayan international, he prefers the role of a second striker, complementing another forward. Anderlecht's previous acquisition of Luis Vazquez from Boca Juniors for 4.5 million euros has led to speculation about the possibility of another deal involving Merentiel.
