Miguel Almirón Transfer from Newcastle United to Atlanta United

Miguel Almirón has made a return to MLS club Atlanta United after six years. The American club has agreed to pay 9.5 million euros for the 30-year-old offensive player, with an additional 3.5 million euros contingent on bonuses. Almirón has signed a contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year. He had previously left the Georgia-based club in January 2019 for a transfer fee of 24 million euros to join Newcastle United. During his time at Newcastle, the Paraguayan had recently been playing only sporadically, accumulating a total of just 150 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Newcastle United have officially reached an agreement to sell Miguel Almiron back to Atlanta United for a fee of approximately €11.5 million. The Paraguayan international has had a limited role at St James’ Park this season and is now close to rejoining the MLS team, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Romano indicated on X that Miguel Almiron is departing Newcastle to rejoin Atlanta United, with confirmation of a verbal agreement reached between all parties, including the player's side on a four-and-a-half-year contract. The fee is around $12 million (€11.5 million), and Almiron is set to travel for medical tests. Almiron has only accumulated 150 Premier League minutes this season and has not contributed to a goal since February 2024. He previously scored 22 goals in 70 appearances during a two-year period at Atlanta before transferring to Newcastle in January 2019, where he helped secure the MLS Cup in 2018.

Miguel Almiron is set to join Atlanta United. A verbal agreement has been reached between all parties, including the player, for a 4.5-year contract. Newcastle will receive 14.2 million euros for the transfer. Almiron will travel to the USA immediately to undergo medical tests and sign the contract. He previously played for Atlanta United from 2017 to 2019.

Team Talk reports on Miguel Almiron's impending transfer back to Atlanta United. The Paraguayan international is reportedly set to re-join his former club Atlanta United in Major League Soccer. Having fallen down the pecking order at Newcastle, Almiron has started just one Premier League game this season. It is understood that Newcastle have agreed on a £10 million fee with Atlanta for Almiron, which will conclude his six-year tenure at the club. Sources indicate that he is poised to sign a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year, which Atlanta will activate if the player achieves certain milestones.

Miguel Almirón is linked to a transfer to Atlanta United in the MLS. Although he had been associated with Olympiacos during the current winter transfer window, Atlanta United has been making significant efforts to acquire him, and it appears they are on the verge of success. Reports from the Spanish outlet Relevo and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano suggest that the MLS team is close to securing Almirón from Newcastle with a deal worth 12 million euros. This transfer would see Almirón returning to the team he played for from 2016 to 2019, before his significant move to the Premier League.

'The Athletic' has reported that Atlanta United is in negotiations with Newcastle United regarding the transfer fee for Paraguayan offensive player, Miguel Almirón. The discussions are reportedly well advanced, with a figure of around 16 million euros being mentioned. Almirón, who initially joined Newcastle in 2019 for 24 million euros from Atlanta, has experienced a reduction in his playing time this season, having played only 148 minutes across eight Premier League matches. Although there is interest from Charlotte FC, it seems that Atlanta United is currently leading the pursuit to bring the 30-year-old back to the MLS, which would mark a potential return to his former club.
