Maximilian Wöber Transfer from Leeds United to Red Bull Salzburg

RB Salzburg showed interest in Maximilian Wöber as a candidate to strengthen their defense, but the transfer fee demanded by Leeds United was too high for Salzburg.

Wöber is currently one of three central defenders at Leeds United, a club with ambitions to reach the Premier League. Rouven Schröder, the Neo-Sportchef of Red Bull Salzburg, mentioned that it would be difficult to put the money on the table for Wöber and admitted there has been no contact with Leeds regarding the Austrian defender since he took office. Schröder indicated the possibility of making a clever loan transfer instead.

Maximilian Wöber is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Red Bull Salzburg. The transfer is expected to be completed in the winter, with only final details pending. Leeds United, Wöber's current club, is willing to let him leave as he doesn't play a significant role there. Wöber's market value is estimated at 10 million Euros.

Red Bull Salzburg is targeting Maximilian Wöber along with Gernot Trauner to strengthen their defense in January. Wöber, a former Ajax player, is currently playing in the Championship for Leeds United and was on loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach last season. He wanted to return to Salzburg last summer, but the transfer did not materialize. He is under contract with Leeds until mid-2027.

Maximilian Wöber is considered for a return to Red Bull Salzburg to strengthen their struggling defense. Previously, a summer transfer failed due to disagreements over the transfer fee, but the club is now willing to invest more in the winter transfer window. Wöber, who had previously played for Salzburg from 2019 to winter 2023, is open to returning.
