Maxence Caqueret Transfer from Olympique Lyonnais to Como
Maxence Caqueret has transferred to Como from Olympique Lyon for a fee of 17 million euros. This move is part of Como's active strategy in the winter transfer market, which also includes the acquisitions of Butez, Assane Diao, and Fresneda. Cesc Fabregas was instrumental in facilitating this transfer. Caqueret has agreed to a four-and-a-half-year contract with Como, committing to the club until June 2029. Olympique Lyon, under financial constraints imposed by John Textor, approved the transfer, while Caqueret had been contemplating a departure from the club. This transfer represents a fresh start for the 24-year-old, who is seeking more playing time after losing his place to the trio of Veretout, Tolisso, and Matic at Lyon.
Maxence Caqueret, a 24-year-old French midfielder, has joined Como, the club associated with Cesc Fàbregas. Lyon, the club he is transferring from, reported that the transfer fee is set at 16.5 million euros, with an additional 1.5 million euros in potential variables. Furthermore, Lyon has retained 7.5% of any future transfer fee. Caqueret, who has played for the French Under-21 national team, was developed at Lyon, having joined the club in 2011. He becomes the third new signing for Como in this winter transfer window, following the acquisitions of Assane Diao from Betis and goalkeeper Jean Butez from Antwerp.
Maxence Caqueret is set for medical examinations with Como. He will arrive in Italy this evening.
Maxence Caqueret has joined Como as their new midfielder, under the management of Cesc Fabregas. Described as a left-footed playmaker positioned in front of the defense, Caqueret was born in 2000 and is the fourth addition to the team brought in by the Spanish coach with the support of the Indonesian ownership during this busy transfer window. His recruitment follows the signing of goalkeeper Butez, winger Assane Diao, and the anticipated arrival of defensive winger Ivan Fresneda. Although Caqueret is relatively young, he is noted for his significant growth potential and considerable international experience. During his time at Olympique Lyonnais, he participated in a total of 184 matches and scored 7 goals, but did not secure any titles. In the current season, he has gradually been phased out of the first-team rotations, featuring in only 8 league matches, 4 in the Europa League, and 1 in the Coupe de France.
Como, led by Cesc Fabregas, is nearing the completion of a permanent deal to acquire Maxence Caqueret from Lyon. Sources indicate that the transfer fee is estimated to be between 15 and 17 million euros, and there might be a clause for a percentage of a future resale benefiting Lyon. Caqueret is anticipated to travel to Italy soon to undergo medical tests after Como and Lyon finalize the transaction details. Earlier interest from Crystal Palace did not materialize into any significant progress.
