Mathew Ryan Transfer from Roma to Lens
Matthew Ryan, currently a backup to Mile Svilar at AS Roma and not in the plans of coach Claudio Ranieri, attracted the interest of Lens. Discussions were initiated between Lens and Roma, and a total agreement was reached for Ryan's transfer to Lens. The proximity of the end of Ryan's contract in June facilitated the discussions and allowed this strategic acquisition for Lens's season, as they could only rely on Burkinabe goalkeeper Hervé Koffi.
Mathew Ryan was signed as a free agent to provide solidity and experience. After just one match in the Coppa Italia, he is already set to be transferred for 800,000 euros to Lens.
RC Lens is in the process of pursuing the recruitment of AS Rome's experienced goalkeeper, Mathew Ryan, as a replacement for their outgoing international goalkeeper, Brice Samba, who is set to join Rennes. Mathew Ryan, having served as a backup to Mile Svilar this season at the Italian club and having played only one match in the Coppa Italia, is reportedly eager at the possibility of reclaiming a number one goalkeeper position. The 32-year-old Australian international, who has earned 96 caps for his national team and has had a distinguished career with clubs such as Bruges, Brighton, and Alkmaar, is approaching the conclusion of his contract in June. Negotiations regarding the terms of the deal between the two clubs are currently underway, with an agreement reportedly close to being finalized.
