Mateusz Klich Transfer from DC United to Cracovia Kraków

In December, there were loud talks about the potential return of Mateusz Klich to Cracovia, where he began his career. However, the transfer did not happen. Talks were held but broke down due to financial disagreements. The journalist Łukasz Olkowicz mentioned that the Cracovia president was not willing to create salary disparities and preferred to save money.

Mateusz Klich, who is currently with DC United, has engaged in discussions about a possible return to Cracovia. Cracovia's president, Mateusz Dróżdż, has shown interest in bringing Klich back to the team, noting his potential to significantly impact the squad. Although Dróżdż is receptive to the idea and has been involved in talks for more than six months, he indicated that the transfer is not expected soon. Financial considerations play a role, and Dróżdż highlighted the importance of adhering to the budget. Despite these challenges, Klich has opportunities at Cracovia, but his desire to return remains uncertain.

Mateusz Klich had been recently linked with a potential return to Cracovia, but the likelihood of such a transfer has significantly diminished. Klich mentioned that his contract with DC United is valid until December 31, 2025, in response to reports by Jerzy Chwałek. Although Klich was included in the list of players available for the MLS Expansion Draft, San Diego FC did not select him. His inclusion on the list suggested that his contract, initially set to end in December 2024, had been extended by an additional year. Despite previous speculations, a return to Cracovia appears improbable for Klich. Jerzy Chwałek indicated that he might join another MLS club once his contract with DC United concludes.

Mateusz Klich was reportedly very close to returning to Cracovia, with the club president Mateusz Dróżdż expressing strong interest in the player. Klich himself mentioned his desire to return to Cracovia in messages to Tomasz Kupisz. However, journalist Jerzy Chwałek reported a change in the situation, suggesting Klich is unlikely to return to Cracovia after his contract with D.C. United ends on 31st December. Instead, he might sign with another MLS club.

Mateusz Klich was considered for a return to Cracovia due to his expiring contract with DC United. However, being listed in the MLS Expansion Draft indicated an automatic contract extension with DC United, making the move to Cracovia problematic.

Cracovia president Mateusz Dróżdż is keen on bringing Mateusz Klich back to the club, even willing to travel to the US to secure the deal. Negotiations are ongoing, and the transfer could occur in the next window, as Klich's contract with DC United ends in December. Klich, who previously played for Cracovia from 2003 to 2011, may rejoin at the start of the new season preparations.
