Marlon Gomes Transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk to Olympique Lyonnais
Marlon Gomes has expressed interest in remaining in Europe, and in order to attract him to Brazil, Botafogo has promised that a good performance could lead to a move to Lyon in France. However, due to a ban on registering new players imposed by the French national control authority, Lyon is currently unable to make a direct transfer. Consequently, the initial proposal is for Marlon Gomes to play in Brazil with Botafogo before transferring to Lyon. The 21-year-old central midfielder from Shakhtar is being targeted by Botafogo, the Brazilian Serie A champions and Copa Libertadores holders, who are financially capable of purchasing his contract outright. Botafogo is looking to replace the departing experienced midfielder Che Che with Gomes. The shared ownership of Botafogo and Lyon by American businessman John Textor facilitates this proposed arrangement. Gomes' contract with Shakhtar extends until the end of 2028, having joined the Ukrainian club in January from Vasco da Gama for 12 million euros.
