Marko Malenica has extended his contract with Osijek until the summer of 2029. This decision followed discussions that started during the team's winter preparations in Novigrad, with both parties expressing a desire for this outcome from the beginning. Malenica has been associated with Osijek for over 20 years, having had brief loan periods at Cibalia, Segesta, Lech in Poland, and Diósgyőr in Hungary. He currently holds the record for the most successful saves in the Supersport HNL and is the goalkeeper with the most appearances for Osijek since the establishment of the HNL. The club's director, Vladimir Čohar, indicated that extending Malenica's contract was a priority for the club.

Marko Malenica will sign a new contract with Osijek in the next 48 hours. The official announcement is expected to happen on Thursday, but if not, it will certainly be signed before the first match of the second part of the season on Friday, January 24th. The contract will be until 2028. Malenica is a long-time player of Osijek, having joined in 2008 from Novogradiška Sloga.
