Manolis Siopis Transfer from Cardiff City to Panathinaikos
Manolis Siopis has officially joined Panathinaikos, signing a 2.5-year contract. He arrived in Athens on the morning of January 31st to undergo necessary fitness tests before signing the contract. Panathinaikos announced the acquisition of the Greek international midfielder from Cardiff. Siopis is set to immediately strengthen the team as the second winter addition to the roster.
Manolis Siopis is in Greece to undergo medical examinations before signing with Panathinaikos. Cardiff City has agreed to his departure. Siopis joined Cardiff from Trabzonspor to reunite with his former coach Erol Bulut, but found it difficult to adapt. After Bulut left in September, Siopis expressed his desire to return to Greece, as reported in November. His move is considered logical following Cardiff's signing of Sivert Mannsverk. The 30-year-old international midfielder is viewed as an ideal fit for Panathinaikos, who were looking for a defensive midfielder. Siopis has made 21 appearances in the Championship and one in the FA Cup this season. He has previously played for Olympiacos, Platanias, Panionios, and Aris, and had spells in Turkey with Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor, where he won the league title. He has also been capped 36 times for the Greek national team, scoring one goal.
