Lucas Pirard is being considered by Standard Liège as a potential backup goalkeeper to Matthieu Epolo. With his contract at KV Kortrijk set to expire in June, Pirard presents an appealing option for Standard since he could join without a transfer fee. Having been part of Standard from 2009 to 2016, the 29-year-old has recently played for KV Kortrijk following Tom Vandenberghe's move to AA Gent and an injury to Patrik Gunnarsson, although his primary role has been as the third-choice goalkeeper. Given Standard's financial limitations, Pirard is viewed as a feasible free transfer option to rejoin his former club, where he was trained and played for seven years.
