Lovro Majkić: Istra 1961 Contract Extension
Lovro Majkić has extended his contract with Istra 1961 until mid-2027. This decision was made after the club parted ways with Italian coach Paolo Tramezzani, as Majkić apparently did not find a 'common language' with the Italian coach.
Lovro Majkić, unexpectedly, extended his contract with Istra 1961. Despite not being favored by coach Tramezzani and being close to leaving the club, Goncalo Garcia managed to convince him to extend his stay for two more years.
Lovro Majkić was initially not willing to extend his contract, which expires in June, and was planning to leave after seven years, especially after having a tense relationship with the former coach, Tramezzani. However, with the announcement of Gonzalo Garcia's arrival, who had previously shown trust in Majkić, the option for Majkić to extend his contract for at least another year (until June 2026) has been reconsidered. This would potentially resolve Istra's goalkeeping situation.
Lovro Majkić's contract with Istra 1961 is due to expire in June of the following year. The club and the player have yet to reach an agreement on extending the contract. It was reported that a meeting has been arranged with the player and his representatives after the match against Dinamo to discuss his future. There is speculation that Majkić might choose not to renew his contract and could leave as a free agent next summer. Under the current rules, he would be eligible to sign with another club as soon as January, potentially leaving immediately for a transfer fee or departing without any obligations to Istra in the summer. Alternatively, Majkić may decide to extend his contract for an additional year, with a provision allowing him to leave if a suitable buyer emerges.
