Nottingham Forest is considering the option of loaning out Lewis O'Brien. While O'Brien has shown interest in joining Preston, the club is unable to meet even half of his current salary at Forest. Despite receiving offers from other clubs such as Derby, Luton, and Swansea, which are willing to provide more competitive salary packages, O'Brien is inclined towards joining a team with a potential for play-off success. Since his transfer from Huddersfield following Forest's promotion to the Premier League in 2022, O'Brien has made just 17 appearances for the team and has been loaned out three times, including to D.C. United and Los Angeles FC. The loan to Los Angeles FC included a purchase option that was ultimately not taken up. As O'Brien does not feature in Forest's current plans, it is anticipated that he will be loaned out once more before the transfer window closes.
