Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Monchengladbach's Ko Itakura, who was a target for the club during the 2023 summer transfer window. The fast-paced defender has been compared to former Spurs favourite Jan Vertonghen in terms of his playing style and might be available for a bargain deal since his contract expires at the end of the current season. It is reported that the north London club has not dismissed the possibility of making a formal proposal for Itakura, even though he is not currently their top-choice recruit. Postecoglou is said to be aware of the opportunity to negotiate a reduced-price agreement if Itakura does not extend his contract with Gladbach.
