Keylor Navas Transfer to Newell's Old Boys

According to Kicker, Keylor Navas is transferring to Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. After leaving Paris St. Germain six months ago, the 38-year-old has found a new club, returning to South America to join Newell's Old Boys. The club announced this development on Wednesday morning. Navas is anticipated to sign a contract until the end of the year, stepping in as a replacement for the first-choice goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos, who is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury. This transfer marks Navas' first return to South America since he departed from his youth club Deportivo Saprissa in 2010. Throughout his career, Navas has won the Champions League four times with Real Madrid.

The coach of Newell's Old Boys, Mariano Soso, confirmed the signing of Keylor Navas, a Costa Rican goalkeeper known for winning three Champions League titles with Real Madrid. Soso mentioned that they had reached an agreement and described Navas as a player who could enhance that position. The transfer was unexpected by many in Rosario but was a significant move, as Newell's managed to sign him despite interest from other clubs like San Lorenzo, Colo-Colo, Cerro Porteño, and Gremio. Due to San Lorenzo's critical economic situation, they could not pursue the interest further. Keylor Navas will sign until the end of the year. It is still uncertain when he will travel and if he will be present for Newell's debut against Independiente Rivadavia in the 2025 Professional League.

Keylor Navas, the Costa Rican goalkeeper, has decided to join Newell's. The transfer was influenced significantly by Lionel Messi, who recommended the club to Navas. Navas had other offers from San Lorenzo, Colo-Colo, and Gremio but chose Newell's after consulting with Messi and other Argentine former teammates. The negotiation was conducted quietly, and Messi's endorsement was a key factor in Navas's decision.

Keylor Navas has reached an agreement to join Newell's, marking his first experience in Argentine football. The Costa Rican goalkeeper, formerly of Real Madrid and PSG, is just one signature away from officially becoming a player for the team at Parque de la Independencia, where he will sign until the end of the year.

Keylor Navas is reportedly linked with a move to Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. His agent, Luciano Emílio, stated that they are awaiting a definitive response from Gremio, Brazil, before proceeding with Newell's offer. Following a failed negotiation with Washington Aguerre from Peñarol, Newell's has accelerated discussions and reached a preliminary agreement with Navas. The club is optimistic about finalizing the deal soon, although tax issues are currently posing a hindrance. According to the Costa Rican portal La Nación, Navas has agreed to join the Argentine club.

The coach of San Lorenzo, Miguel Russo, confirmed that the Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas would not be joining the team and would instead play for Newell's. Although he did not provide many details, reports from Costa Rica indicated that the former Real Madrid goalkeeper would join the Lepra. Russo mentioned that he had some information and nothing more, emphasizing that the day-to-day interactions with the players were the most important. He candidly revealed that he did not inquire much about the transfer, stressing the importance of concentrating on the current squad. Meanwhile, San Lorenzo continues to search for a new forward, but is constrained by budget limitations.
