Josip Brekalo Transfer from Fiorentina to Hajduk Split

Josip Brekalo was very close to a temporary return to Dinamo from Fiorentina at the beginning of the year, specifically on loan until the end of the season. However, at the end of the January transfer window, he surprisingly ended up at Hajduk.

Hajduk's president Ivan Bilić tried to retain Josip Brekalo after his spring loan spell, during which he scored two goals and provided eight assists in 16 appearances. However, Fiorentina did not agree to this option due to Hajduk's financial inability to meet the terms.

Josip Brekalo was signed by Hajduk Split from Fiorentina in the winter transfer window. The transfer was notable as it was seen as a move of power by Hajduk's management, diverting him from a potential move to Dinamo Zagreb.

Ivan Bilić, the president of Hajduk Split, along with manager Andy Bara, attempted to negotiate the conditions for Josip Brekalo to stay in Split for the season. Brekalo had a short stint, scoring two goals and providing eight assists in 16 matches. Despite his efforts, he did not receive a call-up from Zlatko Dalić and did not manage to secure a stay at Fiorentina over the summer.
